Replacements, Ltd.
Museum Tour II (page 14) - Flower
Frogs by Cambridge
The Replacements, Ltd. Museum features a large collection
of depression-era glassware. Many well-known companies are featured as part of
this unique collection, including Cambridge, Imperial, Duncan, and Heisey. One
of the loveliest pieces made by Cambridge Glass was the “Flower Frogs.”
The image below shows one such “flower frog,” entitled “Bashful
Charlotte.”

“Flower frogs” are centerpieces that are used
in conjunction with bowls, vases, and centerpieces. Each “flower frog”
features a large base that is pierced with a series of holes. A “flower
frog” is inserted to the center of the vase, bowl, or centerpiece and the
holes are used to hold the stems of flowers. After the flowers have been inserted
into the base of the “flower frog,” it can be covered in moss or grass
to hide the thick bottom. The result is a lovely object d’art with a unique
statuette centerpiece.
Cambridge Glass produced “flower frogs” in a
variety of colors, sizes, and designs. These pieces have been immensely collectible
and continually increase in value. This piece is valued at over $500. If you are
